$250K donation from Cammarota Foundation goes to Colonie Youth Center
The Colonie Youth Center Inc. has received $250,000 from the Edward D. Cammarota Foundation for its recreation center.
The donation will support the youth center’s Rudy A. Ciccotti Family Recreation Center, a $14.8 million fitness and aquatics complex that opened in 2007.
The center has named its gymnasium after Cammarota in recognition of the gift.
Cammarota, a former town of Colonie Republican chairman, owned and operated a tennis club on Albany Shaker Road for many years. He strongly supported the town’s recreation program. Cammarota died in 2004 at the age of 89.The foundation was created in his honor in 2005.
