Firearm owners should keep gun details with will
Sooner or later, everyone dies.
Yet, apparently, there are those who believe they will live forever. Those are the people who die without a will, or even verbally stating what should be done with their worldly possessions when they transmit.
When these people who were gun owners die, the widow is often left with considerable uncertainty as to the disposal of those firearms.
Most wives are not in hunting and firearms of how their husbands were, and accordingly, I just want to get rid of those rifles, shotguns or handguns. Yet there are certain things that all must know (but most don't) when selling the firearms of the recently deceased.
The first is that the executor of the estate, even though she or he does not have a firearm licence, in effect steps into the shoes of the deceased provided the deceased had a firearm licence and had the firearms registered. The executor can then take control of the firearms by locking these in a secure cabinet or room, and having the only key.
If the disposal of the firearm is declared in the will and the executor must make these requests, or if not specified, must decide on the method of disposal. In all cases, the firearms must be sold or given within reasonable time.
